Real Wedding: Brittany + Lisa

“Mikaela was the first day-of vendor we booked for our wedding after finding her on social media. Her voice is SO beautiful that we couldn’t imagine having anyone else sing at our wedding! Mikaela’s communication, professionalism, and artistry was perfection from start to finish. It’s also important to mention that she was getting married in January too and was flexible in still taking on our wedding the weekend just before hers. She played the piano as our guests arrived and set the mood for the entire event. She also sang during our cocktail hour and reception dinner as well as learned a song for our first dance. Our guests were absolutely blown away and still talk about her being one of the most memorable moments of the night. We will continue to sing her praises and are so thankful she was a part of our wedding day!” - Brittany B (pre-ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, & first dance)

When I think of Brittany and Lisa’s wedding I think glam, romantic, and fun. I also think, “wow how lucky was I to get to play on two gorgeous grand pianos in one night?!”. Lisa and Brittany are huge music lovers and had a clear vision of the atmosphere they wanted to create from the beginning of the night all the way through the end. I began by playing soft welcome music inside the lavish parlor as guests arrived for the ceremony (grand piano #1). They walked through the parlor out into the courtyard for the ceremony to watch these two sweeties tie the knot! After the ceremony, I played some upbeat pop covers outside for the cocktail hour like “Dancing On My Own” by Robyn, “Suit & Tie” by Justin Timberlake, and “How Deep is Your Love” by The Bee Gees. The guests mingled and enjoyed a few drinks in the beautiful courtyard, then it was time to move inside to the ballroom for dinner.

If you haven’t been to Chateau Bellevue before, the ballroom has this beautiful stage and you guessed it - another grand piano. To make the scene even more special, the grand piano it had a STUNNING floral arrangement cascading down the side (also didn’t even plan this but my skirt matched which seems important to note). I played a twinkly version of Boyce Avenue’s “Say You Won’t Let Go” for their first dance while doing my best to hold back tears. I continued to sing throughout dinner, playing classic love songs like “Come Away With Me” by Norah Jones, “I Will Follow You Into the Dark” by Death Cab for Cutie, and “Your Song” by Elton John. It was such a magical atmosphere and it felt almost like an upscale dinner show, with guests applauding in between songs and singing along to their favorites.

The love in the room was so apparent and I think that’s because Brittany and Lisa are the kind of people that everybody loves. They literally glow when they look at each other and that love bounces off the walls, making everyone in the vicinity feel all warm and gushy. They made me feel like I was a guest at the party and I feel so honored to have gotten to play for this very special wedding. Not only was this a special wedding because of these two incredible humans, but it was also the first LGBTQ wedding ever at Chateau Bellevue! What an incredible moment to be part of. Congratulations you two! I’m and so happy for your and glad that I have gained two amazing friends in this experience!!

Highlights: Gorgeous piano floral arrangement (made by Lisa’s mother!), and an incredible surprise drag show!
