Real Weddings: Jenny + Ian
One word comes to mind when I picture Jenny + Ian’s intimate Washington wedding: glamptastic. I was so honored when they asked Jordan and I to travel all the way to Washington to celebrate with them! They chose Cama Beach State Park as their venue and weekend getaway destination. Cama Beach is on the southwest shore of Camano Island facing Saratoga Passage in north Puget Sound. It’s a 1930s-era Puget Sound fishing resort complete with waterfront cedar cabins and bungalows that feel like you’ve just stepped backwards in time. Or onto the set of Moonrise Kingdom. Either way, it was a weekend I’ll never forget.
It couldn’t have been a more perfect Pacific Northwest Day. Slightly gray and hazy with spots of sunlight peaking through the clouds, illuminating the beautiful waterfront ceremony. Jordan picked soft, folky-guitar melodies as everyone found their seats under the gorgeous golden-green trees. I began singing “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” and Ian, his best man, and Jenny’s maid of honor made their way down the aisle toward the traditional Jewish chuppah. Jenny emerged from the trees like a real life fairy while Jordan and I played a slowed-down duet of Sam Smith’s “Latch”. Rings and vows were exchanged, glass was broken, and Jenny and Ian were officially MARRIED! We sang them off to our acoustic rendition of “You Are The Best Thing” by Ray Lamontagne and everyone made their way up to the main hall for the reception festivities.
This will forever be one of my favorite weddings I’ve ever been a part of. Thank you so much for including us in your weekend, feeding us oysters and crab on the beach, laughing, and dancing with us! Congratulations you two lovebirds!! 🌲❤️
Highlights: Custom chain-stitched jackets for the bride and her maid of honor, fresh oyster cocktail hour, waterside cabins, and a good old fashioned military sword cake cutting - yes, sword.
